The golden horseshoe of Lviv region
Olesky Castle. Ancient castle in Western Ukraine was founded in the 13th century. The castle has very interesting history. It was the subject of constant conflicts between local nobility and between stranger-Tatars. Partially ruined during the war in the middle of the 17th century, Olesky Castle is branch house of Lviv Art Gallery now. The art collection of Western Ukrainian lands of 14-18 century is exhibited here.

Mykulyntsi- Skalat – Zbarazh – Kremenets
Mykulyntsi has a standard set of architectural buildings of central European city. Its name was first mentioned in The Testament of Vladimir Monomakh dated in 1096. Ruins of castle (1550), the palace (18 century) with park and Catholic Church, built in baroque style (18 century), were left in the town.

The town, mentioned in Ipatiivski chronicle in 1100, became a centre of education, culture and science in the Eastern Europe. There are a lot of culture and architecture monuments, among them is medieval Murovyna (XIV-XIX) and Round Tower (XV-XVI), Lutsk (XVI) and Tatar’s (XVI) gateways, St. Epiphany Cathedral (XV-XIX), the Catholic Church of Virgin’s Assumption (XIX), Synagogue (XVI) and other.

There are a lot of fortress and fortifications left in Ukrainian towns and villages, but only fortress in Zhovkva is considered to be the “ideal fortification”. The only mint in Ukraine, where coins were made from silver, was functioning on its territory in the first part of the 17th century.

Lutsk is ancient and at the same time modern city that combines in itself European daintiness and sincere Ukrainian hospitality. History and the present time are harmoniously combined. Baron’s mysteries: the Golden Horseshoe-Zbarazh-Vyshnevets
Palace-castle complex in Pidhirtsi fascinates by its beauty and greatness, which carry visitors into the tempestuous 17th century, when famous architectures Andre dell Aqua and Guillaume de Beauplan constructed this architecture masterpiece by order of Stanislav Konetspolski. This happened during 1635-1640. Court (18 century), Catholic Church (18 century) and garden are the parts of Pidhirtsi Castle architectural ensemble.

Almost impregnable fortress is Zolochivsky castle. You won’t see the castle near the entrance of gateway, as it is hidden by high banks. These banks make Zolotchivski castle special. When in the middle of the 17th century building began, artillery was in the first place in the world. It was necessary to change something in defensive works, that’s why Yan Sobeski, who paid for the construction of castle, decided to use the Dutch model
